A few days back I came across the song 'Ankh Uthi' by Jubin Nautiyal and after listening to a few of his other songs, I've become his fan. Then I found out he was rejected in a reality show, and it's hard to believe once you listen to him singing.
So, it got me to think, are the judges always correct in their decisions.
Nowadays reality shows are practically on every channel. Some are more recognized than others like 'The Indian Idol', 'Dance India Dance', 'X Factor, 'India's Got Talent', and 'Dance Deewane'. You have auditions where hundreds are chosen from thousands. Then top 50, top 25, top 10 and last top 5 or the finalists. After a few months you get a winner chosen by the judges and of course, public voting.
Well, when it comes to the public, it's obvious whoever can win the hearts gets the votes. Yes, talent does matter, but other factors like stage presence, ability to showcase yourself better than others, and so on counts. Our Honourable Judges
Coming to the point of the article - Our Judges. No doubt, each one of them is a professional in their own field, but can you actually say their judgements are always right. Let's take a look at some rejections who are famous today Jubin Nautiyal: Jubin Nautiyal is an Indian singer, no big revelation on that. Jubin won the Upcoming Male Vocalist award at the 8th Mirchi Music Awards in 2016 for the song "Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata (Reprise)- Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He also won the Rising Musical Stat Award at the Zee Business Awards in 2015.Not many might be knowing, but Jubin was rejected by Sonu Nigam. Sonu Nigam is one of the most renowned singers Bollywood has and he happens to have a number of hits in his name. Sonu has judged many reality shows and has praised new talents as well. For some he's a great mentor as well. Sonu was a judge for the reality show X Factor. Along with him were ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal. Jubin Nautiyal took part in X Factor and during the audition rounds, Jubin sang Tujhe Bhula Diya, originally sung by Mohit Chauhan. Shreya and Bhansali felt Jubin had the potential for singing, but Sonu didn't share the same thoughts. In fact, it was Sonu who rejected stating Jubin is not suitable for singing. It's interesting to know how someone not suitable for singing, is crossing 350+ million views on YouTube and has 2.87 million subscribers on YouTube. Today Jubin is an established singer and is famous for his soft velvety voice. Rajkummar Rao: To say, he's practically won every heart in India, wouldn't be wrong. Even though he began his career with small and insignificant roles but today he's part of the 100 crore club and is a leading actor. But, this was not his initial dream. Rajkummar came to Mumbai when he was 16 to become a dancer. He auditioned for the then popular reality show Boogie Woogie. He got rejected as a dancer and Rajkummar recalls being upset at the time. But now when he looks back, he's happy dancing didn't work out as he found a better career. Kapil Sharma: Kapil Sharma needs no introduction. His talent as a comedian is world renowned. Everyone is also well-aware of his singing talent as well. Kapil has also auditioned for Indian Idol where obviously he got rejected or else he would have been a singer today. Years later when he was invited as a guest to promote his show, he confessed he had planned to come in front of the judges and show his talent, but he got rejected before that round. And, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge show, which actually paved his path to success had rejected him in the first audition. It was in the second try, Kapil managed to gain success, and today he has shows in his own name. Ayushmann Khurrana: Looks like the Badhaai Ho actor always wanted to be an actor and had tried to audition in a reality show as well. Today, the famous actor, Roadie and VJ Ayushmann confessed during his appearance as a bona-fide celebrity and guest on the sets of India's Cine Star Ki Khoj - he was rejected by the same show - Cine Star Ki Khoj. Raghu Ram: It's hard to imagine Raghu Ram as a singer as we all are familiar with the face that is not easy to please as a contestant of Roadies. But, do you know Raghu himself has faced the same situation years ago, back in 2004 when he auditioned for Season 1 of Indian Idol. The then judges Sonu Nigam, Anu Malik and Farah Khan rejected him. Overall After knowing about them, we have to accept, judges are humans after all. No doubt, they have experience but to say their judgement is always right, well it's not. But one thing we definitely learn from here is don't give up. As long as you know you can do it, go for it.
